The past few months, we’ve been doing a lot of thinking behind the scenes. And with great sadness, we have to inform you that there will be no Satta Massagana Pt. 5 in 2026.
Between ongoing struggles with the City of Bruges regarding permits and subsidies, increasingly busy personal schedules, lower attendance compared to other events, rising costs, and several years of challenging weather, it’s no longer possible to maintain or organise the event in the way we believe it deserves.
As many of you know, Satta Massagana is a non-profit initiative, carried by only 2 people, Victor (@shikobasoundsystem ) and Thibault (@rootsgaragesoundsystem ). Victor has taken more of a background role due to a temporary move to Australia. Which also makes it harder.
What began as a small first edition at DORP, an initiative by Het Entrepot supporting young creatives, quickly grew into a beautiful event with international visitors. But now it feels like the right moment to let this concept rest for a while, and make room for new ideas to grow.
This is not the end of Satta Massagana, rather a pause, a moment to breathe, and to allow things to develop more naturally. It also gives us the space to fully focus on Satta Massagana Night.
That said: we will continue organising Satta Massagana Night, twice a year starting in 2026. A concept born out of Satta Massagana itself, carrying the same grassroots values and spirit, only with even bigger lineups ahead.
